  1. Hi everyone! This is a little bit of a continuation of the WvW server discussion. I wanted to float the idea of forming a War Snakes group to run havoc in WvW once a week (day, time, and frequency subject to voting of interested members.) I've been doing some research and communicating with the members of a havoc guild on SBI (violent tendency). Here's the info:

What are you talking about? War Snakes would be a 3-5 person havoc group. (Obviously, if there's more than 5 people interested, that would be awesome too.)

What would this group do? Run around in WvW taking camps, killing yaks, capturing towers and, of course, wrecking all those who stand on our way.

What classes and builds would we run? (These are some ideas from the current meta. I'm sure we'll have others depending on people's preferences.)

    Really? This sounds kinda crazy.

Granted, but check out these videos. It looks like a ton of fun:

  3. Hi everyone!

I wanted to bring this topic back and see if anyone still has interest. Just yesterday more servers opened up. I guess the backpack rush is over and population is mostly back to normal. I've been playing WvW a good amount lately, and my husband and I have decided to switch servers at the relinking  on August 25. I still like TC and hope to come back some day, but in my limited playtime it's not working for me right now. Anyways, I thought I'd put my plan out there and see if anyone else is interested. If we could get together 5ish people who are interested in playing regularly, we could start a "war snakes" havoc squad.

    Here's the tentative timeline:

    August 25: relink occurs

Sometime before September 1: everyone moves to new server. If pips are important to you, get pips on your current server before you move because you won't be getting them on the new one until you've been on it for a full match.

Match September 1-8: this match you won't get pips because you weren't on the server the entire match before. However we can still play.

Match September 8-15: You start getting pips again.

As far as servers go I was considering two choices:

    1. Transfer to the highest ranked server we can and make it our new home (basically intend to stay). This would probably cost everyone 1800 gems as we'd move to a very high pop server. If the ranks and the open/full servers don't move around much right now this would be DB, but we could also consider SBI.

    2. Transfer to the server linked to the highest server we can. Because it's a linked server, it's possible we'd want to move again at the next link. Right now that would be Devonas Rest (this is just an example, it probably won't be Devonas after relink). The good part about this is it would be cheap at only 500 gems, but we might want to move again in a two months (it's possible we won't though) and if we did, we'd loose a week of pips again.

So if anyone is interested, meaning they want to do this, please reply and say which server option you prefer (1, 2, or another suggestion).

When we discussed this before we had several votes for Darkhaven. We could consider that too after we see who their new link is.

  4. Hello aspiring scribes of NPC!

As of today, NPC has unlocked all the schematics you need to level to 400 the cheapest way according to gw2crafts.net, with one exception. That exception is we have unlocked Emergency WP instead of Gate Turrets. Please consider using Emergency WP to level instead. The difference in gold is 20 silver per craft (so approximately 5.6 gold total difference), and the turrets are awful in WvW.

The only other thing is you may have to make guild arrow carts instead of ballistas (the price difference is coppers).

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Happy scribing!

  5. As most of you know, I participated in WvW extensively before I joined NPC. I'm on Tarnished Coast with Osh and Khani (and my husband of course. I believe most of you know him as Doc). While I would love to WvW with NPC, I'm hesitant to leave TC. I've been on TC for several years and have had some good times here. Although TC has had some recent difficulties and fallen in ranking since I first got here, I think the community is competitive enough that you can grow and improve, but not so hard core that it's annoying. I also think TC has a good "never give up" spirit-even when we were stuck getting steam rolled in T1 I remember having a good time. That's not to say of course that everyone on TC is an angel. I also think we have some good commanders and guilds. If we are going to do small group roaming it's helpful to have a Zerg distracting the enemy's Zerg so you don't get steam rolled all the time. Based on what I've seen recently several of the  pugmanders and guild commanders are good at and comfortable with coordinating with smaller groups.

Another thing for us to consider is world status. Tarnished Coast is very high which means people could transfer in if they want. I have been participating in wvw this week and the EU queues are nonexistent. The NA prime queues seems to be in the 20s (maybe Osh and/or Khani can comment on that), but after this initial rush I think it will die down to reasonable but still very well populated.

I also wanted to mention that I'd be happy to donate to help people move (even if we decide that TC isn't where we want to be). Also I have an alt account that is currently on FA (not that we could move there because it's full), but I might consider moving that one depending on where we go.

  6. Interesting...

    So some questions:

Nike doesn't gg in that video so I'm slightly confused about that part.

What are the advantages? Is it to avoid the damage and havoc Sauls final alter ego does? As far as I can tell this strategy means you still have to deal with him, just in the last phase not the one before. But I guess you don't have to kill him, you can just kill Deimos?

Is this something that can be done for Challenge Mode? Or is the loss of that person who goes down to kite too much for CM?

  7. That was some serious cheese. I'm happy we will be able to do it with out needing to resort to that (even if it was still an option which it's not.)

I forgot to add thanks Kintari for doing all the research on this CM! Much better than mine too because it's personal experienced based instead of a collection of other people's experiences and info. No need for me to do anything. :D

  8. I know this is a little ahead of where we are right now, but I ran across another possible use case for a Reaper/Necro build (not listed here) that involves Epidemic.

Deimos challenge mode: Epidemic is useful to 1) immobilize and kill and Prides and Greeds that try to kill Saul by bouncing condis off the boss (obviously you need other condi classes and rangers with Entangle to optimize this strat, but we typically use those anyways) 2) quickly kill Saul's alter egos that come back to the main platform with the group after the transport phase.

Mighty Teapot checked the DPS and it's close enough to what they were getting before to work on Deimos CM (see below for link).

I haven't researched all the mechanics of this challenge mode yet, but I believe this strat is pretty powerful because LOD is using it to 8 man Deimos for sells:

And Mighty Teapot and [SALT] used it in a recent Deimos CM kill:

(They talk about the strat at 1:22:00 and the kill itself -they wipe a few times-starts at 1:45:00):

  9. As far as tanking strategies go, The person with the claim button probably needs to decide on that. We may want to consider abandoning our "stay in the middle" strat because the corners are just as "safe" as the middle regarding blues and it would allow us to delay two of the adds longer. I have yet to find a good start that ensures we only encounter one powered up add at a time. That would be the holy grail for us druids (and everyone who likes a fullish health bar).

I think Mold mentioned the method used by KING at our last raid.

    Elaborate drawing of this strat:

I've looked at a few videos and I'm partial to the method used by Snow Crows. Three POVs have been posted from that run (see below). Again, I really don't think there is a right or wrong here. The only rules that really matter are these: what a man can do and what a man can't do. (Why don't we have a pirate emoticon? That would go perfect right here. Please tell me someone else got this reference)

  10. So I was researching the blue square patterns and they are not random. I charted out mine to clarify the pattern for myself and thought I'd share it. I'm not sure if the overall pattern is random or not (meaning I had the pattern labeled "1" first, but someone else might have "3" or "7" first). I think we've already figured this out, but you've always got a blue in one of the 4 middle squares. I've been putting this info together with more videos but haven't come to any conclusions yet. I have a few strategies I like and will post when I've collected more "data."

    Interesting things to note:

    • Only one blue square appears in any column or row at a time.
    • Only 4 patterns exist.
    • Similar to the middle, you will always have one blue available to you on one of the three squares adjacent to each corner or the corner square itself. (So, if we have to go to the corner at the end because of low dps we can still make our blues. As long as they don't line up perfectly with the spikes, which is the case in the middle anyways.)

My first pattern looked like this:

Over the course of the entire fight it ended up looking like this:
