Boomslang Matthias

In order to gain some clarity about our Matthias struggles, I charted 11 of our Boomslang runs on Matthias from last Monday.

The short version: we simply are not dodging the 2 big attacks in abom. That's not our only challenge, but it's why the runs that should have been kills didn't end in success. Our dps slows to a crawl during abom because we spend half that period rezzing.

A few other notes:

• We are very consistent about phasing around 8:30, 7:00, and 5:00. If we dodged vaults and hadoukens better, I bet those improve by 15 seconds per phase.
• Dodge fails are spread pretty consistent across the group. You probably already know if you're especially guilty.
• Spreading with bombs was a problem, but not the main culprit.

A few additional notes from the review:

• Work on standing behind him when he bubbles pre-abom (except not in rain). It's a good habit to get into.
• Prioritize dodging over dps throughout the fight to make that more intuitive during abom.
• Save dodges for 2 crucial attacks during abom (unless you have lots of blocks like chrono).
• Less wiggling in rain (unless you're clearing your stacks).
• Let's have our eles use rebound in abom just before vault.
• Don't immediately run out when you get bombs; take a second to assess before moving. There's plenty of time.
• During pre-abom rain, spreading without a bomb is almost as bad as overlapping with a bomb. Stay middle dot or dodge back in there if you mistakenly spread.
• During abom, only rez a player down with corruption in exceptional circumstances. Save your sustain for yourself. Same with a player downed in poison.
