  7. Tl;dr: I'm not giving one! Please at least skim over this entire (admittedly long) post. I want everyone to be on the same page. Believe me, it took me waaay longer to write it than it will take you to read it. Hi guys, As I briefly mentioned, I'm interested in forming a new raid squad, the Copperheads. I want this squad to be a little more "hardcore" than Boomslang. The reason behind this is I want us to be able to achieve some specific goals. Goals Group: Finish working on wing 5 and get it on farm Clear 3 wings per night (2.5 hrs) of "old" content CMs: Deimos, Samarog, SH, 5 minute statues, Dhumm, etc (after we have wing 5 on farm, order up for discussion.) Individual: Achieve 90th percentile DPS or boon output for support classes on all bosses according to GW2 Raidar. To recruit high quality players to fill a new static, we need to have requirements and a trial period. If we want to ask new members to satisfy certain requirements, it's only fair if our current group members meet those same requirements. Many NPCers meet these requirements already, and I don't think they are impossible for any of us who want to meet them. Requirements 150+ LI (1 set Legendary armor also accepted.) Killed all bosses in Wings 1-4. At least attempted Wing 5 (kill proof preferred but not required). Have 1 geared support class (chrono, druid, BS, support renegade, auramancer), 1 power dps, one condi dps Submit an API code for a gear and boss kills check (will need character and achievement permissions. Put LI in characters inventory or give appropriate permissions for me to see material storage.) For dps players: be able to achieve 85% of benchmark on the golem for classes you want to play and submit log via GW2 Raidar as proof. (Only squad leader will see these submissions. They are not for the entire group to view.) When you gear a new class for raiding you must submit another log (a 2 week grace period will be in effect.) For support players: Be able to keep up appropriate buffs and boons. I will use Raidar to compare to other players. Ability to regularly attend our raids at 8:30 EST and stay until they are finished at 11 pm EST BOTH Monday and Wednesday. Spend 15-30 minutes each week improving your raid play. Preferred way to do this is either rotation practice on the golem or pugging raids. If you can't do either of those a particular week it's also acceptable to spend that time: watching footage of "elite" groups, critically watching footage of our group/your own play, researching and suggesting strats for the group, or gearing characters (farming mats, etc.). Raiding with NPC does not count. I also want to make some small tweaks to the way we run our sessions. These are not vastly different from previous groups, they are more reminders to improve efficiency. These expectations come down to respecting the time and commitment of your fellow raiders. If everyone follows them, you won't waste others' time and they won't waste yours. Group expectations No ninja AFKing. I realize stuff can occur during raids (doorbell, spouse/baby/child/pet aggro, etc.) But if you are frequently "brb" during raid time (more than 1 per session without explanation) or disappearing without even saying anything it will be addressed. While the group is new and we are learning new encounters please keep off topic chit chat to a minimum. This is to allow people to concentrate. When we are satisfied with the speed and ease at which we are killing stuff, we will ease up on this. All members will be expected to keep up with changes to their class as far as gear, rotations, etc. When the meta changes you may need to gear a new class. Again, 2 week grace period from the time SC or qT post their builds. The more classes you have geared the better as it allows us to optimize. Be on time. Whatever time we decide to raid that is START time-as in we will be pulling the boss at that time. If you are chronically late (more than 3 times) it will be addressed. I will assume you will be at the raid unless you let me know. Please try to give me notice as far in advance as possible if you can't make it. I will post an agenda and comps on the website before each raid night. You are responsible for having checked your assignment and being ready to play that role(s) and/or class(es). Don't be a jerk. Mistakes happen. Treat others as you would want them to treat you. We're all trying our best and want to improve. If you can give someone advice in a pleasant manner, do so. If you can't, keep it to yourself. On the flip side, you need to be able to at least listen to someone else's suggestion with a good attitude even if you don't agree. You must run meta gear and food at all raid encounters except under special, previously approved circumstances (e.g., 2 week gearing grace period, practice pulls agreed to by the group, etc.) In general, I expect people to have a main role. As we develop as a group, I'm happy to have nights where people learn and/or try new roles or for people to switch (as long as they meet previously mentioned requirements. Again, 2 week grace period.) Roster updated 1/24/2017 Chrono tank-Pyro Off chrono- Druid- Healer/Support/DPS (This person will run a healer/support if we need it and dps if we don't.)-Maia BS-Khani DPS-Strange DPS (support when we need it)-Mevic DPS-Temerity DPS-Abys DPS-Vivid Substitutes ("on the bench") Ser Twisted Fred Bone Mold Kintari I understand if not everyone is onboard with this agenda. It is ambitious and represents a shift from how we've been operating. It might also represent a big change in how you've been playing or want to play. I understand that, and I understand if this isn't what you want. Please be honest with yourself and the group if this isn't for you. No one will be mad; we'll all still be friends. To move forward with this, I'd first like to get a count of how many current NPCers are interested and in what roles. If we have a good core group, I will start recruiting nonNPCers for trials which will be held starting the week of January 15. I'd appreciate it if people let me know ASAP, but I'll base our recruiting needs on how many have responded by January 4 (2 weeks from today. Please post below.). This is the timeframe to express interest NOT to have met all requirements. I will give everyone until January 29 for that (2 weeks after we start trials.) I propose sticking with our Monday/ Wednesday 8:30 to 11 schedule. If that doesn't work for you let me know and we can discuss moving the time/day. I'm excited about this and hope you decide to join me!
  8. Holiday casual raids

Update Holiday Pickup Snakes Tuesday, December 26 @ 9 pm! Hope to see you there! Hi everyone! I believe a few of us will be available and interested in raiding the week between Christmas and New Years. I am happy to lead a raid of who ever is interested plus some pugs (hopefully not too many.) If you are interested please reply to this post with which nights you are available of Tuesday, December 26 through Friday December 29. Each session will be our normal 2ish hrs. I'm open to suggestions for what wings to do, starting time, and if you want to do one or two nights. Keep in mind the chances of us needing pugs is pretty much 100%. If people want to invite friends, that would be great (once we know approximately how many we need.) I can also advertise in my raid LFG guild that night if we need more (they run a gear check and have a minimum boss kill for entry so it's possible we'll get a higher quality of raider. It's also possible that it's no better than LFG.)
  9. Scourge nerf incoming

I assume this is part of the real reason the Scourge nerf is incoming Notice how they can get rid of a Condi PS war but the druids and chronos are still doing time
  10. So Nike just posted a new video about the importance of the meta, blah, blah, blah. Not that I don't agree with him, but as I was watching his video I found something way more interesting than his argument. Does anyone else see something interesting around 11:44 in the Deimos fight? TL;DW: Nike takes the final green circle teleport by himself and appears to kite Saul's final alter ego around while everyone else focuses on killing Deimos on the other platform. What do you think? Legit strat or cheese?
  11. I'm so hyped over our victory last night! I want to thank everyone for their tenacity and creativity in putting together our winning strat. As most of you know, I've been lusting after the Eye of Janthir mini for a while now, and here it is: I've also uploaded my PoV to Youtube if anyone wants to relive our victory from another angle: On to Samarog!
  12. Hooked on Super Adventure Box

Up until very recently I did not do SAB. For 3 years I had decided it was too intimidating and difficult. I'm not very good at jumping puzzles, so I thought would probably be bad at SAB too. However, this year before release I had the same attitude change that I had with raids and fractals several months ago. I decided I was going to do it, and not just a little bit- all of it including tribulation mode and getting an infusion. I'm not sure whether this all or nothing attitude is admirable or pathological, but it's how I work. From this experience I present: Tenish things I've learned from SAB 1. Sometimes suicide is your best option. 2. Don't trust anything no matter how pleasant or cute-looking it is. 3. Dodge jump is a powerful tool, but it should be used with care. 4. 16 seems like a small number at first but it gets bigger and bigger the closer you get. 5. Celebrate every checkpoint. 6. There are millions of ways to fail and only a few ways to succeed. Don't get frustrated if you find a new way to fail each run, blame math. 7. It's okay to laugh each time you select the option "Yes, I'm really into that. Don't judge me." 8. You cannot unlearn tribulation mode. Even in normal mode you will avoid flowers even if you know they won't hurt you. Just accept it. It's going to take a good amount of will power to pull myself away to raid. If anyone is in the same place I was: not ready to try SAB for the first time on their own, contact me in game and we can get a party together. YouTube Roundup Week of March 26 This was a sad week YouTube wise. Monday I had technical issues that prevented me from recording. I did get our Xera and Deimos kills from Boomslang's Wednesday raid. SAB had its claws in me by Friday, so I wasn't in on Pick up Snakes but the squad looked great on Kintari's stream. As a side note, I learned people like watching other people open Black Lion Chests. My video of opening 14 measly chests is my most watched video. It's either that or watching mediocre Druid gameplay is boring. I'm hoping it's the former.
  13. Hi Everyone, Here's a round up of the videos posted on my YouTube Channel this week. I've made playlists by night if you want to watch all the kills from a specific night. Well, all the kills I have videos for. I need to work on my consistency as far as pressing "record" goes... Monday Night Boomslang (3/20/21017): Cairn, Mursaat Overseer, Slothasor, Bandit Trio Wednesday Night Boomslang (3/22/2017): Vale Guardian, Gorseval, Sabetha Friday Night Pick-up Snakes (3/24/2017): Matthias, Cairn, Mursaat Overseer, Samarog I also wanted to share my new credits for each of the raid squads. Boomslang: and for Pick up Snakes:
  14. With the new warrior banner changes, we're learning which warriors really know what all their utilities do and which ones don't. I'm happy for warriors' new found freedom to use utilities other than banners, but please don't kill the rest of us with it.
  15. Samarog Challenge Mode

Hi all. This is the next installment in my research on challenge modes. I've been looking onto Samarog and this one is no joke. I'm sure some of you know more about it than me, so please feel free to add to this post or correct anything I've got wrong. New mechanics: Invulnerable spears now appear in a set pattern every 5 seconds. After the entire grid is full, Samarog eats them and the group needs to avoid the red arrows that appear on the ground. Choose your friends wisely: The person who gets the large circle is now immobilized and the person with the small one needs to run to them. A spear spawns where the person with the large circle is standing, so the group needs to be aware not to stand on the large circle. Strategy: I found this lovely map by Derior (I think Mold will be a fan). http://m.imgur.com/gallery/P2N7tmi Druids: Considering the large amount of deadly area, S&R and spirit of nature seem helpful. Because tanking is crucial, we may want to assign people to take aggro (by standing furthest away from the boss as cc phase finishes). The tank should also make sure the swipe attack won't kill the person immobilized by the friends mechanic. A possible strategy is to have the tank move to the next position without the group and have the group follow after. Videos: Video from KING that goes with this map: I've got a few others. I'll post them ASAP.
  16. I want the mini Eye of Janthir. I see no reason to buy it off the trading post when we can earn it ourselves. (I'm going to assume you all want it too.) Not to mention all the other cool loot you get from completing a challenge mode. Therefore, I'm putting together some resources for us for after we kill Deimos. Please add info if you've found some. New mechanics: Blue stuff: Every 30 seconds, blue stuff appears on four tiles on the floor. The blue tiles are different for every player. You must stand on one of the blue tiles as it expires or it's instadeath. Strategy: I don't think the movement and spikes are any different. To be safe you may want to bring a movement skill such as blink, lighting flash, shadow step, etc. (see povs below) Sometimes the blues and spikes are close in timing and you have to get to your blue square quickly at the last second. The blue color appears for approximately 5 seconds before it expires. Having someone call blues seems helpful (:05 ish and :35 ish) Videos: Mesmer tank pov Tempest pov: Condi Druid: https://youtu.be/Ww2eq90kj6I (that last minute Dad button!)
  17. Wing 4 Kill Videos

Tons of videos of kills of the Wing 4 bosses have been posted to YouTube in the past few days. I've dcided to watch them all and post the ones I think are best. This is no doubt a fools errand, but it sounds like a fun challenge. I'll up date this as I go along. Here we go: Cairn the Indomitable Absolute insanity: Druid solo and it only took him a little over 4 hours: Mursaat Overseer Very simple tanking strategy (did this bug somehow?) (Brazil) https://youtu.be/nZ7PLR7xgKQ Samarog Shield strategy. Two adds one jotun and one human spawn. The idea is to keep them apart with the human under the shield while you focus the jotun. (Anaconda Ren) https://youtu.be/COflnr5dtbo Deimos First kill from qt (fennec, Mesmer pov) https://youtu.be/aSer6fu_nz8 Druid flak kiting from KING https://youtu.be/HuE6_rVq1hE
  18. Can't wait

This made me laugh out loud. https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/5t5yvi/how_i_feel_kiting_at_the_4th_boss_spoiler/ When I first found out the Sabetha flak kiting thing was back I was pretty annoyed. I mean don't druids get enough of the bad jobs? Now, I can't wait to write my own messages.
  19. Wing 4 HYPE

Today is the big day! While I respect people who want to experience everything without previous knowledge (*cough, cough* Kintari), I want to see it ASAP! If anyone is interested, I frequently watch Mighty Teapot who is streaming the raid live today. https://www.twitch.tv/mightyteapot Hopefully, I can keep anything I learn to myself.
  20. Keep Construct orb strategy

In the current meta druids are responsible for pushing the orb on Keep Construct. Typically druids use staff 1 because the skill cool down and the orb movement cool down are approximately the same. That said, I don't like how it feels. Therefore, I've been looking for alternatives, and I found one a few days ago on Reddit. This stategy involves starting with staff to push the orb to the first rift and then quick drawing long bow 4 to push the orb into the next two rifts. The pros are it's quicker than staff because you're using a push twice. I'm also hoping it feels better. The cons are you are stuck with using staff/longbow instead of staff and s/a. Although if your running Magi Druid, it probably doesn't matter that much. Here's the guide for any who are interested: Twisted has done a great job "pushing" for Boomslang, but I can't help but feel like I should pitch in too. Maybe we'll have some time to try this out at some point.
  21. So tonight I decided to practice DD/tempest in Wing 1 and joined a pug from one of the lfg raid guilds I belong to. To my surprise one of my pug mates was a semi well known streamer, luality. You can see the footage here: https://www.twitch.tv/luality/v/115053989 It starts around 45:00. My favorite part is around 1:05 when her twitch followers insult my choice of class and decide it would be better if I was running guardian. The part where someone calls her lazy for not porting us past the champ in spirit run is pretty funny too. You really never know who you're running with when you pug. Although I should have probably figured it out from her name and guild tag [cute]. Even more exciting, after she left we did Sabetha and I did 'even' cannons for the first time and no missed cannons! Whoooo! It's possible I'll become a competent DD!
  22. TL;DR: TC will be less painful if we use this 5 button strat with the entire group (not solo) TL;DR 2: Maia gets easily obsessed about stuff. What a weirdo. Last night at the Boomslang Raid I mentioned the Mesmer portal strategy for TC. Because no one else was familiar with it, I decided to do what I typically do when a "puzzle" like that bothers me: I researched it. (Yes, I know I have a problem. No, I'm not getting professional help.) From what Mighty Teapot, Nike, and Brazil said about this strat during the Elitist Raiding Party Tournament, it is (as Kintari would put it) the new hotness. The idea is to do the solo strat shown in this video with an entire party. This way we only have to hit 5 buttons. https://youtu.be/0qr_daPyYkw 1. Zerg goes right, kills mobs, goes to next room and hits first button. Zerg then purposely ports back to beginning using statue. 2. Zerg goes left, goes through 'pain' room, gets to the next room and kills mobs and continues using behind portal. 2a. One person goes to forward portal, hits the button, returns to the beginning and joins the group by going the left route. (I'm calling this the first split room) 3. At second split room, Zerg kills mobs 3a. Mesmer with falling damage reduction places portal and dodges or falls down to next level (land on arch) and places portal. Open portal. Rest of the group portals down. 3b. One person does not take the Mesmer portal. Instead they take the 'door' portal on the left and waits for door to open, hits button and returns to start. 4. Zerg kills mobs at bottom of stairs, hit button 4a. One person goes back to hit button as shown in video: https://youtu.be/MoAu0J_GQsA at time stamp 0:49 5. Zerg heads through door at top of stairs 6. Zerg makes way to end of maze 7. Win Videos: Zerg view: https://youtu.be/v-FiGnV5DpM https://youtu.be/ZOVXJXJiMwU Mesmer jump and port: At 18:12 in this video: https://youtu.be/0aqPFP7TpLI In this one too: https://youtu.be/Mim6W8Vf9xg
